Eddie Frogbert was the pride and joy of his family. He wasn’t like the other frogs. He was not the biggest or the bravest. With his feet firmly on the ground, Eddie left the hippity-hop to the other frogs.

Sue DeGennaro

Where were you born? Where do you live now?
I was born in Adelaide and I now live in inner city Melbourne.

Where did you go to school?
Adelaide

What were you like in school?
Good when I needed to be and naughty when I knew I could get away with it.

What is the naughtiest thing you did?
I told my Year 1 class it was my birthday, I lied about all the presents I got and they sang me happy birthday at the end of the day, I loved every moment of it.

What was your favourite book growing up?
We didn’t have any books in our house when we were growing up. I didn’t really get books 'til high school, late high school.

How do you get started on illustrating?
I set a timer every day and drew for 10 mins. Either an object in the house or my little children.

How old were you?
33 yrs

Why did you want to be an illustrator?
I tried not to be an illustrator by not accepting a place in an illustration course I was offered after leaving school, it seems there was no escape.

How do you think up ideas?
I turn up to my studio, pencil in hand and wait for them to arrive, they always do.

Do you have a special place where you illustrate?
My studio, the largest sunniest room in my house.

What is the best thing about being an illustrator?
Having the opportunity to practice painting and drawing over and over again.

What do you do when you are not illustrating?

Cook, clean, pick up clothes off the floor.

What would you have chosen to be if you were not an illustrator?

Scientist

Which famous person from the past would you like to talk to?
Miranda July
