Ever since he could remember, Tashi had been told stories about the dragon that lived in a golden palace high up on the mountain. Each year the dragon sent the rains spilling down into the village, making the air sparkle like diamonds. But one year the rains didn’t come. The rice blackened in the fields and pine trees exploded like firecrackers in the forest.
When Tashi gives water to a thirsty white tiger with a burnt tail, the tiger tells him that the old mother dragon has fallen asleep, and that her young one, Tum-tum, is starting the fires.
Now, dragons are frightened of nothing, except demons, but someone has to stop the dragon, so Tashi rides on the tiger’s back, up to the top of the mountain where only dragons live.
