It’s the last day of school for Archie Coomes, which means the start of an epic summer break—his last before entering high school. He’s planned a wicked celebratory end-of-eight-grade trip with his four best friends, where they’ll camp out in the ancient woods that border their small coastal town of Seaham.
But when a local construction site unearths a strange network of cavities below the ground, weird things begin to happen in Seaham. There’s the strange man Archie catches eyeing his house, the pennies he keeps finding on doormats, and the peculiar old lady with a chilling warning: They found something down there. They shoulda left it hid.
Could it be there is something hidden in the caves? Whatever it is, one thing’s for sure: strange, evil doings start occurring in Seaham, and it’s only affecting the adults. With the help of his friends, Archie embarks on a mission to get to the bottom of what’s happening in town. It’s a gripping, scary race against time he can’t afford to lose: not if he ever wants his parents or his home to return to normal.
