Matt is sent to live with his Grandma while his father serves time in prison. In a new school in the heart of his Dad's hometown, Matt faces the challenges of being in a class full of strangers, and amongst people who remember his father as a young troublemaker.
When he is sent to a camp at Lake Waikaremoana for problem kids, Matt goes head to head with the bullies but also makes some unexpected friends, including Elsa, a 100-year-old, giant long fin eel. Drama unfolds when Elsa's life is threatened and the dam at the lake bursts.
