Three Kangaroo brothers decide one day to cross the bridge to greener pastures, when they each encounter a mean, hungry, and slightly dim-witted Bunyip. The smallest two kangaroos use their wits to escape the monster by promising a bigger, tastier meal on its way (being its next brother!), quite politely saying things like:
‘Mr Bunyip, I am quite small.
Wait till my bigger brother comes,
He is both fat and tall.’
Finally the Bunyip gets his comeuppance and the kangaroos all graze happily ever after.
A funny, entertaining tale, with delightful illustrations from Janine Dawson.
